Indian Knowledge System

I always have a deep respect and enthusiasm for the works and knowledge we have gotten from the Vedic periods. I usually get a lot of these discussions and knowledge from my grandfather. He always insisted on the fact that Vedas are not something religious , rather , the word itself means ‘Knowledge’ and this knowledge contains everything we need  to know for the survival here , in the material world and in the spiritual world too.

Since then, any story , be it from our Puranas, Upanishaths … anything, I used to find a deep value in them. It is a story when you read as a story, but it also has several interpretations and internal aspects that invlove the studies or understanding of science, astronomy, mathematics , finance ,relationships.. what not!

That’s when I started to feel to miss not having an open opportunity to learn and explore these knowledge bases ,as part of our education system.

And so recently, like a 2 days back , I got a magazine called , Yojana, a Govt publication, which has an article that I got to read about the Indian Knowledge System, which mentioned, that Indian Education System has now included the Indian Knowledge System, which comprises of every aspect of knowledge that comes from our Vedic periods , in different streams like Arts, Culture, Science, Astronomy, Mathematics, Finance, Politics, Philosophy, Health and Wellness and so forth.

This somehow excited me. I still do not know how exactly it’s implemented, but I am just happy and proud and excited about this start. I just feel that , if this could happen consistently, we will all get an overview of knowledge from our own ancient times , which are currently just felt like mere stories rather than a knowledge base.

If you know about IKS, comment here. Would like to learn more . Thanks
