RadhaKrishna - a new perspective
I am sure you heard of Radha Krishna and their eternal love story. I have heard a lot of versions of the question 'Why Krishna and Radha did not get married on Earth?'
Some said, theirs was an eternal marriage and some said they were not married because they were already 'one'. Well, while I do really believe all these as a believer of Sanatani, I also have a new version that stricked my thoughts lately, which goes in the perspective of generic thoughts that are at the level of the humans, considering the aspects like mentality, compatibility, and such.
Read on.
Radha ma and her lifestyle: Radha Devi was a 'Gopika'. Gopis and Gopikas are a sect of people who in general are very calm with a simple lifestyle of living close to nature, taking care of the cattle being their major daily work, their food is majorly sourced from the cattle like Milk, Ghee, and Butter.
Krishna ji and his lifestyle: Krishna, though was living with Gopis, was actually born into a Kshatriya family. He had the responsibility of descending his uncle, Kansa, and ruling the kingdom of Mathura. He was living as a Gopa Bala for a specific reason to be away from the eyes of Kansa, which was for a certain time. After this, Krishna left for Mathura and became a King and had his other kingdom called Dwaraka, and everything else is a well-known story.
Radha and Krishna Meet up: When Radha and Krishna met each other, they found a very good friend for each other. They found their soulmates. They developed an immense love for each other. They always loved the company of each other and spent much time together, they danced, they laughed, they fought, and they had fun but there was some kind of divine dedication in every act they did. It was not a materialistic wanting but a soulful longing for each other.
How was it right not to marry? How was it right to still be lovers? How was it right to stay away from each other?
Well, after a certain time, a moment came when Krishna had to leave for Mathura and He never returned. Radha was left alone here, with a void of not having Krishna anymore around her.
What did Radha always wish for? - The company of Krishna. The divine feeling for him. The soulful longing and the divine dedication she had for Krishna, made her to have Krishna around her and continue to play and dance and live happily with this company for her whole lifetime. She could have only wished for this beautiful and soulful time with him.
Knowing about the latter story of Krishna on the other hand, let's see how this makes a justification for the above questions on marriage.
1. Radha wanted a soulful, peaceful time with Krishna. She just loves being around him and divinely dedicates herself to forgetting the world around her.
While Krishna could afford this time with her as a Gopa Bala, I don't think he could have been able to do the same for her with the other responsibilities he had in the later part of his life.
Had Krishna married Radha Devi, she had to move to Mathura and Dwaraka along with Krishna in the future. And then, Krishna had to participate in wars, rule the kingdom, deal with people in the Mahabharatha, had to fight against Adharma and many more - all of which could not have been helping with the expectations of Radha Devi. Also, Radha Devi being a Gopika, who was used to the subtle and simple, and non-violent lifestyle - could have found it tough to live in a King's castle which is filled with uncertainty. (You do know a King's life is a lot more difficult too, right?). A King's first priority would be his people's safety.
Could Radha be able to live with such uncertainty? Could she have been happy with Krishna not being able to be around her most of the time? Could Krishna be happy knowing that Radha Devi is not happy? What could Krishna do? What could Radha do? This is not what Radha Devi would probably be expecting if they thought of marrying each other.
Does this now sound right, that Radha and Krishna did not get married? But they loved the companionship of each other and never gave up on it. :)
Of course, in the end, Krishna and Radha were divine beings who came down here and so Krishna still fulfilled the wish of Radha Devi. Radha Devi always felt Krishna around and used to enjoy the soulfulness, as we all know, teaching us all the real essence of 'Love' .:)
Jai Sri Radha Krishna !
